Wat is Boisterious Youth ?

It is a independent short TV series about how different groups of youth spend their time living out their dreams and doing what they enjoy. The series is made up of seven 12 minute series. They are: COMIC COLLECTOR, RUGBY GIRLS, RUGBY BOYS, THE ARTIST, DRAGONBOATERS, THE MALE MODEL and OLE SALSA.

How Boisterious Youth started ?

Boisterous Youth started when Raudah (an IT student) and King (a Business student) teamed up with media.thelim.com's Nigel and Stevie to create this series.

What equipment we used ?

Just about any home miniDV cam we can get hold off. A white reflective board, a couple of camera tripods and that's about it. The final editing, animation and postproduction is done entirely on a AMD Athlon 2100XP running at 1.6 Ghz with 512Mb DDR Ram, using Premiere 6.5 and 3d animation packages.

How long to complete ?

Boisterous Youth started in October 2002 with the filming on THE COMIC COLLECTOR. The postproduction took almost 2 years to complete (end 28 Sep 2004) due to various technical and personal problems that arise along the way.

Lessons Learnt ?

• - A good script is always important
• - Always storyboard your scenes
• - Always have a sound man equipped with a boom mike and MD to record the sound stream seperately.
• - If possible, use 3CCD DV Cams and have portable lighting on standby when the lighting is insufficient.

What's next ?

Perhaps raise more budget for a short indie film ? or a scifi feature ? who knows ? The technology is available to use today !
